Common ignition problems
Ignition trouble usually shows up in one of a few ways: the key goes in but won't turn, the key is hard to get in or out, the ignition cylinder feels loose or worn, or a key has broken off inside it. Over time, worn keys and worn cylinders stop lining up the way they should. Forcing the key can make things worse or snap it off, so stop and call.
Repair or replacement on site
We're mobile, so we work on the ignition where the vehicle is parked. Depending on what we find, the ignition cylinder may be repaired or replaced, and you may need a new key to match. Call with the year, make and model of your car or truck and describe what the key is doing, and we'll tell you what's likely involved.
Broken key in the ignition
If the key snapped off in the ignition, leave the piece where it is. See broken key extraction. If you need new or spare keys afterward, see car key replacement.
