Don't try to dig it out
Pushing a broken key further in can damage the lock. Leave it as it is and call. Once it's out, a new key can often be cut from the broken pieces. Keys usually snap from wear, from being forced, or from a lock that's starting to fail. We remove the broken piece, check whether the lock still works properly, and let you know if it needs repair or replacement. For ignition problems beyond the broken key, see ignition repair.
